Open Day 2008

The 2008 Open Day will be held on 11th October 2008.

The Open Day is a popular event
A welcome opportunity to
buy indigenous Namibian plants

Over the last few years, the NBRI has held an annual Open Day where the Institute opens its doors to members of the public and provides a range of informative and fun activities. These have included:

  • Sales of indigenous plants, many of which are unavailable through commercial nurseries
  • Educational tours of the NBRI which give an insight into the functions and activities of the institute
  • Guided tours of the National Botanical Garden
  • Talks and presentations on aspects of the work of the NBRI and plant identification
  • Children have a lot of fun too
  • Photography competition for the best photo taken in the National Botanic Garden
  • Children's activities and competitions
  • Delicious food and drinks
  • A range of invited stalls, selling books, gardening accessories, arts and crafts, clothing etc.
  • Stalls of local environmental organisations
  • ... and much more.

The Botanical Society of Namibia plays a pivotal role in supporting the Open Day and providing assistance in its organisation.
